Cahir Farmers' Market
Every Saturday Morning from 9.00am to 1.00pm in the Craft Granary Car Park |
Remond Williams, Cahir International Award-winning bee-keeper, attended Cahir Farmers' Market recently with a display of a cross section from a working bee hive, showing what goes on in there! This received a lot of attention, as did the children's art that formed the background.

FARMERS’ MARKET RE-OPENS Cahir Farmers’ Market will begin trading for 2006 this Saturday, 21st January, at the usual venue, the Granary Car Park on Church Street. The Stallholders reported a very good year in 2005, thanks to the support that they got from their customers from Cahir and from all over South Tipperary. Many visitors to the town also came to the Market throughout the year, and enjoyed the banter with the stallholders. Cahir Farmers’ Market has operated since September 2003. It was set up as a sub-committee of Cahir Development Association, which has assisted the Market in every way it could. The Market is only one of the many Cahir organisations that Cahir Development has helped. The Market Committee is pl;anning a number of “special” Markets through 2006, so be sure to go along and enjoy the foods on offer. The stallholders are looking forward to meeting their customers again this Saturday.
New Stallholders. The Market is always interested in hearing from producers who might wish to take a stall. Please contact Jim Trehy or Pat O’Brien any Saturday at the Market.

Happy Christmas from the Farmers' Market
The special Christmas Farmers' Market was held on Saturday 17th December. It was the busiest ever, according to stallholders. The Juggler was excellent and proved very popular.
There was a craft stall just for the one day which added to the colourful scene. Cahir Choral sang Santa into the Maeket after he arrived in his vintage Rolls Royce.

Christmas Shopping at the Famers Market - Please note the Market will open on "Friday" 23rd December 2005 from 9.00am to 4.00pm and will then be closed until 22nd January.
Congratulations and best wishes for a successful New Year to everyone at the Markets.

O'Briens Farm Shop, Phone (052) 62282, email: info@obriensfarmshop.com
The O'Brien family sell their produce on their stall at Cahir Farmers Market each Saturday. Pat and his Barbara settled in the parish in 1984, after returning from England, where they met. They grow potatoes and apples, along with their other farm crops. The O'Briens Farm Shop enterprise was started to sell their produce, and has been very successful for them. All the family help out in the business, both at the farm and in the Farmers Market. The "Market" is a logical extension of their farm enterprise. Pat O'Brien has been secretary of Cahir Farmers Market since it commenced in 2003, and has found it very rewarding to see this new community enterprise thriving. The O'Briens grow several varieties of potato - starting with British Queen, and then Record, Rooster and Golden Wonder, as the season progresses. Golden Wonders are the customers favourite. They have 25% dry matter - real "Balls of Flour". He also produces several varieties of apples. Apple juice is now becoming a customers favourite also. Pat sources fresh vegetables, mushrooms, eggs (including duck eggs), jams, preserves, honey, cheese and much more from local producers. O'Briens Farm Shop is situated on his farm at Outrath, just four miles from Cahir on the N8 national route towards Cashel. An old stable was converted to house the shop. It is opens each September and trades right through the season until the following June. |
