CAHIR NOTES

CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS WORKSHOP
This very popular workshop will take place, this year, on Saturday 13th December in the Craft Granary, from 10:30am to 12 noon. Ages 5-10 are catered for, at a cost of €8 per child, and bookings should be made right away, as the number of places is limited.

BEECHPARK RESIDENTS’ ASSOCIATION
At the Extraordinary General Meeting that was held on 13th November, the outgoing Committee did not stand for re-election . Unfortunately, there were fewer people at this meeting than had attended the AGM on 2nd October, and a new Committee could not be formed on the night. Therefore, it was agreed that a further EGM would be held this Thursday night, 27th November, upstairs in the Shamrock Lounge.

Please attend and urge your friends and neighbours on the estate to do so too. If a Committee cannot be elected this will mean the end of over 20 years of a Residents’ Association in Beechpark.

The outgoing Committee has been in place for 12 years and has done an awful lot of good work on the estate: fun days, clean-ups, bulb planting, setting the entrance stone, Lotto, 50/50 Draw, Halloween, Christmas Lights and arranging Santa’s visit, to name just a few.

Great thanks and appreciation are due to all the Committee members for their hard work and endurance over the years, and especially to the Chairman, Billy Coffey and to Sean and Marie Duggan for all their good work, enthusiasm and drive.

Please go along on Thursday night and join the new Committee. New blood is needed. It will be a terrible shame for Beechpark if the Residents’ Association is no more.

[Residents should, perhaps, think of the difference that will be made very quickly if there is no Committee. After so long, all the clean-ups, and the fun, are easily taken for granted. Remember that the larger the Committee, the less work there is for each individual. And I am sure that Billy Coffey and all the others aren’t going away - their advice will be invaluable. MC]

PATRONS’ NIGHT
Cahir House Hotel threw a great party for their Patrons last Saturday night. Good food, lots of friends there, very dance-able music and what seemed to be endless wine. Many thanks, all of you - I really enjoyed myself. I also took lots of pictures, which I hope will go in next week.

THE FOLLOWING THREE PIECES  ARE FROM MARIA TAYLOR, FOR WHICH MANY THANKS.

THE HILL INN
The second heat of Eurostar 2008 took place in the Hill Inn last Saturday Shawna Cunningham’s 18th Birthday Party was also held there (belated birthday greetings, Shawna)and many of those attending participated in the event. It really was great fun.

There were many entries, lots of votes and there was a free shot for every participant, courtesy of Tom and Marie Carroll. As usual, Pablo provided the karaoke and there were some great singers. All the proceeds went to Cahir Scouts.

The Final takes place this Friday, 28th November at 10pm. Voted through were Emmet Saunders & Kieran Carroll; Natalie Pinto; John Hickey; Kelly  Moore & Katelynn Hayes, Shawna Cunningham; Sally (didn’t get her surname); and TJ Shine.

CAHIR COUNTRY MARKET
Cahir Country Market is hosting a Hospice Coffee Morning this Friday from 9 to 11am. As this is also the first of the Country Markets, I’m sure it will be very busy. There is so much on offer that it’s hard not to go mad and buy everything. Of course, when you always get a lovely cup of tea or coffee, there is even more reason to go.

From this week on, you can order all of your Christmas fare too, from Christmas Cakes, Plum Puddings, Mince Pies, Christmas Cards and Gifts, Christmas Wreaths and Silk Flower Arrangements. In fact, anything you wish to order for Christmas.

Don’t forget all the other produce that’s available too: fresh fruit and vegetables, jams and preserves, honey, organic eggs, breads, pies, jewellery, fresh flowers etc . So, if you would like to support the Hospice Morning and also get the chance to catch up on your Christmas shopping, make a little bit of time to visit Cahir Country Market.
