CHRISTMAS LIGHTS DRAW POSTPONED
As several people said that they had not been able to find places where the Lines for this Draw were available, it was decided to postpone it to a later. Lines are now more widely available and the Draw will take place shortly. To remind yourselves of the lovely Hampers and other prizes that are on offer, have a look in Bernie Bowles’ shop window, which he kindly let us use for the display. (I understand that it actually belongs to his son, now, but I will always think of it as Bernie’s.)
KNOCKGRAFFON OPEN COURSING CLUB
A Meeting and Draw for the Vincent Scully Memorial Cup for 15 all-aged greyhounds, and the Phil O’Dwyer Trophy for Nominations will take place in Ballingeary School on Saturday 3rd January at 8:30pm. This Stake is kindly7 sponsored by Mr Pat Dalton, Golden; Mr Eamonn Scully, Knockgraffon and Mr Jack Ronan, Orchardstown.
The Knockgraffon Open Cup and Lonergan Stake, kindly sponsored by Tree Top Sheds and Kennels for 8 two-course duffers will also be held. This is an Inter Club competition.
The Club will meet next Sunday to make final arrangements for the upcoming Annual Coursing Meeting on Sunday 11th January. Meet at Ballingeary School at 1pm.
The Secretary is now accepting entries for the Quirke Cup (presented and sponsored by the Quirke family, Poulmucka, in memory of their father, the late Jimmy Quirke). Entries can be phoned in to 052 35231 or 086 212 6849. The Draw will be held after coursing on Sunday 11th January.
CAHIR MEALS ON WHEELS HAMPER DRAW
The results of this Draw, which took place in The Shamrock Lounge on December 22nd, are as follows:

The organisers and Committee of Cahir Meals on Wheels wish to thank all those who donated prizes, sold tickets and helped in any way. They would also like to thank the Shamrock Lounge for the use of their premises and for their sponsorship.

GAEILGE - IRISH CLASSES
A short course of Irish Classes for adult beginners / improvers will begin on Monday 12th January 2009 in the Old VEC (Tech) in Church Street from 8 to 10 pm. The course consists of eight lessons, and for further information, you can telephone 087 278 2071.

CAHIR DIVE CLUB
A busy end to the year
The Cahir Dive Club (CDC) A.G.M was held on the 8th November. The committee for 2009 is as follows;
Chairman - John Cronin, Treasurer – John Ryan, Minutes Secretary – Gary Gleeson. Assistant Minutes Secretary – Mary Hunter, Membership Secretary- Garrit Fogarty, Training Officer – Johnny Sheehan, Assistant Training Officer – Ciara Cronin, Dive Officer/Equipment Officer – Diarmuid Healy, Assistant Equipment Officer – Richard Burcher, Webmaster – Aidan O’Connor, Public Relations Officer – Mairead Cronin, Child Safety Officer – Tess Moore, Designated Officer – Ciaran Casey
Committee Members – Stuart Rees, Kevin O’ Keefe, Johnny McDowell, Mick Burke, Keith Mathews, Jimmy Duffy.
John Ryan, Ciara Cronin and Mary Hunter are currently doing their Dive Leader course and they hope to complete it in the New Year.
People interested in joining CDC on their diving exhibitions will be pleased to know that plans are been prepared for a “Try A Dive” in the New Year. Further details will follow in January.
Much thanks goes to Johnny Sheehan who organised a wonderful Christmas party enjoyed by all the CDC members.
Cahir Dive Club members can now be seen proudly wearing their Cahir Dive Club jacket, T-shirt and cap, which arrived just in time for Christmas. The website www.cahirdiveclub.com is currently under construction and will be launched in the next few weeks.
