MARIA TAYLOR WRITES:
COUNTRY MARKET
Don’t forget about Cahir Country Market on Friday mornings from 9 to 11am. You can get all your fresh produce there and in a couple of weeks the Daffodills and Rhubarb will be on sale for the Spring. Watch this space.
“POEMS OF TIME AND SPACE”
Pat Kearney, who has the fresh vegetable stall in the Country Market, has published a book of poems, which is for sale at the Market, priced €4. His Foreword reads:
“Many of these poems are written in old style and some have no particular style. Some may arouse animosity in established poets, who may say that they are not poems at all. But they are something more than just accumulated nouns, verbs, adverbs and adjectives. Poems that are written to absolute or semi-absolute standards sometimes make very dull reading indeed. I have tried to keep these poems clear and hope the reader gets some enjoyment out of this collection”.
“Pheasant Bird” by Pat Kearney
In the woodland you run free,
pheasant, bird of majesty;
aristocrat of birds you are,
with feathers fair, dainty feet.
A noble bearing your head
and ivy trees your bed
