In these uncertain times it is hardly surprising that people are asking questions when they find themselves in new situations, and are not quite sure who to ask to get answers.
Am I entitled to redundancy? How do I apply for Mortgage Interest Supplement?
What is happening about the Early Childcare Supplement?
What tax relief can I claim?
How do I apply for the new insulation grant?

CAHIR BOYS N.S. UNDER 11's
Cahir Boys National School v Killenaule.
On Thursday 7th May, Cahir Boys School travelled to Killenaule to play their first under 11s schools match. With a strong breeze against them Cahir made a great start with Paulie Barrett scoring 2 - 2. It wasn’t long before we had a battle on our hands with Killenaule playing some fine hurling. Conor Cashman added to our score with a well taken 65 landing in the back of the net. Ben Allen was having a fine game in goal, being well assisted by his two corner backs of Brian O`Connor and Ben Halpin. At half time we lead by two points 3 - 2 to 2 - 3. The second half began with little between the sides, Darragh Howard at centre field scored three fine points from play, and Patrick O`Donovan added another. Killenaule were once again back to within two points, leaving a tense few minutes. A fine save from Ben in goal kept us in the lead, Paulie stepped up yet again to score another 1-1, Allen O`Connor added another two long range frees to give us a hard earned win on a score of 5 - 9 to 4 - 4. Owen Tobin was our only sub on the day. Well done to all the lads. Paulie gets to keep the Cahir shorts having forgotten his own. The deal was, if he scored 4 goals he could have them free, he scored 3 - 3 which will do, we think.
ROSEMOUNT NOTES
We would like to say a big THANK YOU to all who came out and supported our monthly clean up. The turnout was good and a special THANK YOU also to the children who helped out. It’s a great idea to have the children involved as it shows good example of community spirit. As many hands make light work, the result was that the weeds were cleared at the round-about, which was a big job, but was tackled before the heavy rain came down.
We wish to acknowledge the Candidates who are running for Election who have adhered to the wishes of the people and have not smeared posters all over the place. Our next big CLEAN UP is June 3rd [7/8pm] we hope to have a monthly clean up on the first Wednesday of every month during the summer.

On Tuesday 5th May three members of the Scarborough Coasters Cycling Club arrived in Cahir from Scarborough as part of a sponsored cycle in aid of the Cahir/Scarborough Children’s Trust. Alana Parker, Anne Polkey and Fiona Mullane were welcomed with a small presentation in The Bell on Tuesday evening. Many of the friends of Scarborough, Deputy Mattie McGrath, Mayor Dan Costigan, Cllr. Andy Moloney and representatives of Cahir Development were among those attending.
John Quirke presented the ladies with a token gift to remember their visit to Cahir and Loretta brought out some tasty nibbles for all to enjoy. The ladies were off again the following morning cycling to Carlow and then on to Dublin for the ferry back to England. It was a lovely evening and I’m told that all of the ladies enjoyed a couple of glasses of Guinness while staying at The Bell. While talking to the ladies I discovered they are all in a Dive Club in Scarborough, so I will give email addresses for the ladies to Cahir Dive Club and maybe another Scarborough link can be formed.
Lastly well done to Alana, Anne and Fiona on their wonderful Fundraising Trip, and do visit us again soon.

CRUMLIN HOSPITAL FUNDRAISER
Motorbike Cruise for Crumlin’s Children hospital
After the very successful Richie O Mahoney Motorbike run last June, this year I have decided to hold an even more special day.
The Crumlin Cruise .
What is it???Well the truth of the matter is, that the fatalities on our Irish roads are extremely sad and I want to remember all who have lost their lives. Sunday 27th of June will be the date. I want people to bring along a photo of the person they are remembering and place it on a timber wall with a few words underneath.
Now I don’t think this has been done before so it will be an emotional time a sad time, but a happy time all in one. Even though it will be a motorbike event, anybody who has lost a loved one on the roads is welcome to attend and place a picture on the wall. The route will be worked out at a later date and marshals will be needed. We want to keep the speed down for the trip for safety. If you are interested in taking part or just want to remember a friend get in touch with me Pat Cunningham. The meeting place is Cahir Castle car park, signing in from 10.00 am and leaving at 12.00 noon. It will be a 100 mile cruise, and€25 to take part or put picture on the wall, and all moneys raised are for Crumlin Children’s Hospital. Contact Pat Cunningham. 0861511853 for details.

CONDOLANCES
The former Mother Abbess, Sr Agnes, of the Poor Clare Monastery in Graiguecullen passed away in her 87th year on Wednesday 8th April. Sr Agnes, originally Joan Griffin from Market Square in Cahir has been laid to rest after devoting almost 70 years of her life to God.
She entered the Monastery in Graiguecullen on 13th June 1940 at the age of 18 years and made her first profession on 18th June 1942, in 2002 Sr Agnes celebrated her diamond Jubilee as a Poor Clare nun.
For over 20 years she was in charge of the novitiate and was greatly loved by all in her care. She served as Abbess for a number of terms and continued her services in various ways until poor health confined her activities. When she passed away on April 8thhundreds of people paid their respects by calling to the Poor Clare Monastery in Graiguecullen.
Sr Agnes’s requiem Mass was celebrated by Bishop Jim Moriarty, who delivered a very touching and fitting homily. The Mass was celebrated by 30 priests, among them diocesan clergy, Franciscans, Capuchins and Cistercian orders. Fr Liam Lawton performed and conducted the local choir. Many religious sisters were also among the congregation, as were members of the local community. She was interred in the convent churchyard and the coffin was carried shoulder high by her six nephews, who represented her family.
Sr Agnes is deeply mourned by the Mother Abbess and members of the Poor Clare community and by her only surviving sister Lily, who was unable to travel from America for the funeral, her nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, relatives and many friends. She was predeceased by her ten other siblings.
May she rest in Peace.
