INCREMENTAL PURCHASE SCHEME
The Incremental Purchase scheme is a project that consists of 19 dwellings at Sraid Na Cuach, Upper Cahir Abbey, Cahir (opposite Avondale Court) and is available to Social Housing tenants and households eligible for social housing. Originally, as the scheme is a demonstration project, it was therefore being confined to eligible persons within Cahir Town. Due to insufficient applications from persons in Cahir Town itself, applications are now being extended to all eligible persons in the Cahir Electorial area, e.g, Clogheen, Ardfinnan, and Ballyporeen. For any further information please contact Liz McGrath on 052 34671 or email Liz at info@southtippcoco.ie or email Colette Sheehy at colettesheehy@southtippcoco.ie or indeed just phone the Housing Department on 052 34455. This is a fantastic opportunity to become a house owner and I would urge anyone eligible to make enquiries. There will be another meeting to discuss the project and I will let you know the date as soon as it has been confirmed.

ROSEMOUNT NOTES?
We had a great turn out for our monthly clean-up last Wednesday evening. Thank you to all the residents who came out and helped, it was a beautiful evening and as the saying goes 'many hands make light work'. The rubbish was picked up and because of the regular clean-ups the area is in good shape. The tubs were replanted where replanting was needed, and further planting took place around the area. The next big project is to get trees planted on the link road in Butler court. As the Rosemount link road is part of the circle walk used by so many people, we endeavour to make the area as pleasant as we can, as it is a local amenity.
MEALS ON WHEELS
Celebrate 32 years of service to the community.
Cahir Meals on Wheels was established in Cahir 32 years ago. From very humble beginnings, it has become an integral part of Cahir life serving up to 60 dinners daily, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays for most of the year. This is mainly due to the dedication and loyalty of a succession of volunteers who cook the meals, pack the food and deliver the meals to outlying areas. This visit, to some of the homes, might be the only visitor to call during that day or even that week.
Over the years donations and fundraising has supported the cause and a number of names come to mind. Trass, Ladbrokes, Tipp Darts League, Galtee Inn, Cahir Bridge Club, Shamrock Lounge for their Christmas Hamper and their bar for the draw, also Burncourt Bar, Kilcoran Lodge Hotel for their Christmas dinners, Cahir Lions Club, Abbey Tavern, Joan Looby for her Christmas cake and all who donated and are not mentioned, but should be. Thank you to the Health Board for their support through the years.
Kathleen Meehan has over the years run sponsored events and this year on June 28th a walk is taking place from Cahir Castle car park at 2pm. Sponsorship cards are available and your support is again sought.
To mark this milestone of 32 years, the Committee are organising a get together of all the volunteers who did work in the kitchen or did the driving over the years are invited to attend in Cahir House Hotel on 25th June at 8pm. A light supper will be served and music provided to dance the night away. Please contact a member of the committee if you would like to attend, so that numbers can be assessed.
As usual, we are always looking for volunteers to keep the show on the road, so call and find out if you can help, at the Meals on Wheels kitchen. Thank you.

Welcome back Merfat. Also, I would like to mention a new face to the Market, Joanna McCormack joins the ladies and she brings a selection of homemade and gluten free sweets, such as Liqueurs and truffles etc., This will be a great addition to the market and I’m sure they would make lovely gifts and welcome to you Joanna.(oh dear, I can already hear my sweet tooth begging) Don’t forget that the market is open every Friday morning from 9-11am in the Community hall and you can take your pick of all the beautiful homemade, handmade and home grown fresh produce.

SHAVEATHON AT THE BELL?
I knew I left someone out last week, when I was naming those who had either their heads or beards shaved for the C.A.R.E. Society in The Bell , not forgetting those who braved the waxing! I forgot to mention Ronan McGourty who had his head shaved on the night and raised €500 for the Society by doing so. I also named a Liam O’Connor who kindly shaved off his beard, when it should have been Liam Fanning. Lastly, Mattie McGrath did not get his legs waxed on the night, as he had them waxed previously for another charity and there was no leg hair left to wax!(us ladies know that waxing lasts longer, Mattie didn’t)Sorry about the mistakes and well done again to all who raised funds for this very worthy cause. There will be a presentation of the cheque for the funds raised in The Bell as soon as it is all collected, so watch this space for the date.
CAHIR CAMOGIE CLUB NOTES
Meatloaf's song "Two out of three ain’t bad" would accurately summarise the fortunes of our U14 panel this week. We started off on Bank holiday Monday last with a trip to Semple Stadium Thurles where the county finals of the community games were taking places. An U13 panel faced stiff competition from a very strong Burges team but eventually emerged winners on a baking hot day. Wednesday evening then saw the U14 panel travel to the county camogie grounds in The Ragg for the county semi final against North Tipp's Moneygall. Even though this game did not start until 7pm the heat of the day was still strong and the girls had a very tough physical challenge on their hands. Although we emerged victorious in this game the score line of Cahir 2-11 to Moneygall's 2-2 cannot emphasise enough the work the Cahir girls had to put in to achieve this outcome. We saw tremendous passages of play in which quick thinking and clever passing came to the fore. The commitment from all the team was fantastic allowing us to qualify for the county final on Saturday last against Drom and Inch. Again it was off to the Ragg but in completely different weather conditions. From baking with the heat earlier on in the week the team was frozen and wet even before the slothar was thrown in. Cahir were first to score with a point from a free taken by Ashling Moloney but before the team had time to settle again, Drom were down in Cahir's back and had the sliothar in the back of the goal for the first of three more that were to follow in quick succession. Playing into the wind, Cahir were feeling huge pressure all over the pitch, their energy levels zapped from continuous driving rain. Roisin Howard succeeded in scoring 2 more points but with a half time score line of Drom 4-3 to Cahir's 3 points, it was going to be a mammoth task to regain a lead.
Emma Buckley, Emma Corcoran and Ashling McCarthy were doing tremendous work and seemed to be playing at all positions on the pitch, such was their commitment. The back line of Ciara Lonergan, Edel Linehan and Roisin Costigan were under constant pressure but held their heads and did their best to help out goalie Sadhbh O' Donnell. On the half back line were two very young players in the form of Aoife Corcoran and Carl Casey who continually battled with the much stronger opposition. Roisin O' Donnell (who had a super game against Moneygall) departed the field at half time with a hand injury. The other forwards of Clara O' Donnell, Alina Newmeritisky, Eadaoin O' Gorman and the substitutes who were introduced - Keely Halpin, Joye Arbuckle, Niamh O' Brien and Siobhan Lonergan all did their very best on a day that was not going to go in Cahir's favour. Although beaten, frozen, soaked to the skin and bruised from a 60 minute battle, the girls stood and applauded a much stronger team on the day as Drom and Inch accepted their well won County title. The final score line was Drom 5-4 Cahir 0-5. Mention has to go to the trainers and mentors who have worked diligently with this team over the past months - well done to Michael Lonergan, Mary Howard, Anthony Corcoran, Jane O' Gorman and Martin Halpin.
