Jobs for the garden in June. If you have an apple tree, then expect the “June drop” this is where the tree rids itself of the excessive fruits that have set. Fruit set depends on the weather and pollinators at flowering time and so is somewhat variable, the tree therefore produces far too much and then thins it out itself as appropriate.( Thanks Ted, I wondered what happened to my apples!)
THANK YOU FROM TOMMY.

CAHIR CAMOGIE NOTES
It has been a very busy week for the young ladies of our club. On Tuesday last the U13 team representing Our Lady of Mercy primary school, Cahir, were out in action against Dunkerin NS in Semple Stadium, Thurles, in the finals of the Cumann na mBunscoil competition. They were up against a very strong team and were under pressure from the throw in .However although down by 4 points at the break, the girls came back in determined spirit. Super work by Roisin Howard and Aoife Corcoran and a fine goal by a very young Derbhla Buckley brought the team back to within a point of Dunkerin but it was to be too late, and the Referee's whistle sounded to end the game.
While the team lost this game, they showed what brave hearts they have and continued working up to the last minute. Well done girls. Panel: Keely Halpin, Siobhan Lonergan, Carl Casey, Roisin Costigan, Aoife Corcoran, Rosin Howard, Katie Farrell, Kirsty Arbuckle, Joye Arbuckle(Capt), Aoife Collins, Shauna Burke, Alina Newmeritisky, Niamh O' Brien, Laura Casey, Derbhla Buckley, Megan Ward.
On Wednesday the U11 team also travelled to Semple Stadium to take on St. Marys NS Nenagh. This however was to be a totally different outcome and the team won with ease. A delighted Carl Casey accepted the shield from Aodan Wren secretary of Cumann na mBunscoil. It was a particularly great day for Niamh Costello, Rebecca O' Connell, Roisin McCarthy, Emma O' Donnell, Lauren Fitzgerald and Jessica Coffey, being their first day to play on the hallowed turf of Semple Stadium. Many thanks to Principal Pat O' Malley and trainers Mary Howard, Martin Halpin and Marie Casey for all the work carried out with the school during the year.
The U12 girls played another round of their championship against Drom and Inch on Friday night in Duneske. Ashling Moloney opened the scoring with a point from a free that was followed by a classy point from the stick of Eadaoin O Gorman. Three more points followed from Roisin Howard, Roisin O Donnell and Ashling Moloney to leave the score at half time Cahir 0-5 to Drom's 0-1. The second half saw an opening goal from Roisin Howard while Ashling Moloney added to her tally with a goal and two more points. A lovely point from an ever improving Grainne Quirke saw the final score Cahir 2-8 to Drom's 0-1.
It was great to see the older girls back training on Wednesday evening last and this is a reminder to all that training will continue each Wednesday evening from 7pm to 8pm.
Club gear is now for sale with a great range of track suits, hoodies, shorts, socks and bags available.
CRUMLIN MOTORBIKE CRUISE
Don’t forget The Remember a Friend Motorbike Cruise, this Sunday 27th of June. This run is to remember our friends and family who lost their lives on our roads. Any loss of life in any accident is devastating to family and friends. All are welcome. Arrive early, for 10am sign in. Place the picture of the person you are remembering, with a few words attached to it on the temporary wall. There is 90 miles of great scenery to cover. There will be a Garda escort the whole way round. Speeds will be low as this is a very demanding route, but well worth it. All funds raised go to Crumlin Children's Hospital. Come and meet great people, share a story and remember everyone in this great event. We leave the Castle car park at 12 noon and hope to be back in town again by 3.30pm. It is €25 euro to take part or place a picture on the wall. Contact Pat Cunningham. 086 151 853.
TIPPERARY'S BEST KEPT SECRET?
Even though The Riverside Restaurant in Ardfinnan has now been open for several years, lots of people don't seem to have heard of it, which is their loss! A friend had a celebration dinner there last week, and has been raving about the meal ever since.
An apparently simple starter, such as Crab & Prawn Salad, was simply packed with fish, just held together with sauce, resting in a cup of avocado - and beautifully presented. All five of the people at this meal loved every dish and much appreciated the House Wine, which was good, and a sensible price.
As it was a birthday celebration (many happy returns, Yain) there was a surprise (and complimentary) cake, which caused much merriment as it was totally unexpected by the recipient.
There is even a really nice smoking area at the rear of the restaurant and the service is terrific, as well as being relaxed and friendly. A meal is €40 a head, and worth every cent.

4 THINGS YOU PROBABLY NEVER KNEW YOUR MOBILE PHONE COULD DO
(I will print one every week, here’s the first)
There are a few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies. Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for survival. Check out the things that you can do with it:
Emergency -The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112.
If you find yourself out of the coverage area of your mobile network and there is an emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly this number 112 can be dialled even if the keypad is locked. Try it out.
