OLDER PERSONS PARTY ANOTHER GREAT SUCCESS.
The organising Committee with the help of Nell Shinners prepared the Function Room in Cahir House Hotel on Thursday evening of the 14th January by setting out the tables for over 290 in the function room and another 30 places in the adjoining garden room. The Garda Siochana stand and the stage were also set up. A part of the dance floor was set aside for the young people that were to entertain the senior citizens.

The food was supplied by John and Carmel Dolan of Supervalu, at below cost price this year and also it has to be said, for the last 10 years. “Ladies and Gentlemen, before I say my few words I must warn you that during my speech I will be asking a few questions, the first person to answer each of the questions will receive one of the spot prizes, but it must be given to a person over 65.”

He continued “In 2000, Cahir House Hotel kindly gave us the use of their Function Room free, as they have done tonight. I ask you all to give a round of applause for Robert Scanlon, David Walsh, Nell Shinners and all the Cahir House Staff for the use of this lovely Function Room and their community spirit over the last 10 years.”
He then asked “What was the name of the first band that we had for first 7 years? There were quite a few that answered correctly, Caroline and Paul Lafford and that they were called “Breaking Ice”.
