CAHIR TIDY TOWNS
Cahir Tidy towns and Enhancement Group have acquired the services of the South Tipperary Volunteer Agency. This group will meet with the various organizations around the town in order to improve the appearance of areas that will need a physical dig out.
The Chairman Andy Moloney has welcomed the Volunteer Agencies visual presence over the last week and with all groups working together we can achieve our targets.
Items to be tackled are the removal or re-decorating of unsightly Bill Boards around town and painting and tidy of the old Co-op front. The group will also make help available to estates and older people with painting and general clean ups. The members of Tidy towns also welcome the support of the many individual groups that are spending time on various projects in their own areas. Andy is asking anyone who is carrying out improvements to take a picture of before and after and send it to Tidy Towns c/o ann.ryan@southtippcoco.ie . Ann is coordinating the entry form for us and her experience in invaluable.
We still have some Super Valu Packs available and are first on a first come first served basis. Many thanks to Carmel Dolan of SuperValu for continued support of Cahir Tidy Towns.
Remember, The Judges are Coming, Together we can do it.
Next meeting will take place on Wednesday 12th May at 7.30pm in the Shamrock Lounge. All welcome to attend.
SRAID NA GCUACH
Cllr. Seanie Lonergan has been assured that the new houses on the Tipperary Road will be occupied before the end of the month. The Cllr says that the people have been kept waiting far too long and that they should have been occupied last year. He has been assured by the Housing Section that all the problems are now sorted out and the keys will be issued soon. The Cllr gives his best wishes to all the new tenants and wishes them a long and happy life in their beautiful homes.
DESECRATION OF GRAVEYARD?
Cllr Seanie Lonergan has received numerous calls from concerned citizens about the horses or ponies left wandering around the Cahir Abbey Graveyard. Some are even tethered to the historical headstones, which is desecration. These animal owners show a complete lack of respect for a sacred place. The Gardai and the Council have been notified and have said that it will not be tolerated. This disgraceful behaviour cannot be allowed to continue.
LIONS CLUB
President of Cahir and District Lions Club Seanie Lonergan has informed me that the collection of old spectacles has begun. Containers to collect the glasses have been placed in the Cahir Post Office and both of the Banks in Cahir. In Clogheen, there is one in John Carey’s Pharmacy and in Ardfinnan another one is to be found at Tommy Miles Butchers shop. A container has also been placed at the Colaiste. Any enquiries see Seanie or Patsy McGuirke. This is a wonderful cause and Seanie says thank you for participating.
BLOOD MONITOR LOST
A blood glucose monitor was lost on the 04th May 2010, between the Council Offices (Erasmus Smith House) on Church Street, Cahir and the Council Depot in the Business Park, Tipperary Road, Cahir.
The local gentleman who lost this monitor is diabetic and the monitor contains all his blood glucose readings for the last number of weeks and is very important for his continual wellbeing.
The monitor was in a black zipped holder approximately a little smaller than a calculator. If anyone finds this monitor please could you please drop it into the Council Offices on Church Street, Cahir. Thank you.

Thanks also to the people who donated items, those who bought items on the day and those generous people who gave donations to Pat. The total amount raised was €1,790.00 and this will be divided between the Shelters where it will be put to the best possible use.
DENTAL TREATMENT INFORMATION
The HSE issued a circular to dentists last week which seeks to restrict dental treatment to emergency care only.
I would be grateful if you would advise patients that the Irish Dental Association continues to campaign for the withdrawal of the recent circular from the HSE.
Dentists have been advised by the Irish Dental Association not to recognise the legitimacy of the recent circular from the HSE and are advising members to continue to operate the contract as normal.
Therefore I would advise patients with a valid medical card to contact their own dentist immediately to avail of the dental benefits of the medical card scheme.
Thanks to Ronan O'Donoghue Dental Surgeon, The Granary Dental Practice in Church Street, Cahir for keeping us updated on all things dental.
Ronan also wishes to advise patients of the practice that they are not moving premises and are still at the Granary building, next to the post office.

CAHIR CAMOGIE CLUB NOTES
The U12 panel travelled to Burgess on Wednesday night last. This super team brought off another great victory with all their training now paying dividends.
All the girls are improving greatly with each game and this was very much in evidence with fantastic scores coming from Alysia Keating, Eileen Flannery and Derbhla Buckley. Particular praise went to Niamh Murphy in goals for some great saves and clearances. Well done to all concerned and to all the parents who travelled with the team.
This week we are expecting a group of U 10, 8 and 6 girls from Ballygiblin to play us in a challenge game on Wednesday evening at Duneske.

POULMUCKA 5 MILE ROAD RACE?
The Poulmucka Sports & Social Club will have a Road Race meeting on Thursday 13th May to finalize the details of their annual event. The race attracted 155 runners last year and with the numbers growing each year and the reputation that the venue holds the numbers we are sure to have an increase again this year.
The 5 mile course is the same route as every year with the prize money remaining the same. The First Man and first Woman will each receive €200 and the usual prizes down the line. The event costs the club around €2000 to host and we are grateful to all its sponsors for their continued support. Entry fee is €10. There is the usual plentiful supply of refreshments after the race and an evening not to be missed. The date for this year’s race is Friday 21st May at 7.30.
The Poulmucka stewards turned out in force to help the Clonmel AC with their 10k race on Sunday last and we were glad to be able to assist the Clonmel lads who have given us much support every year with our own race.
Also, as there is a group travelling to Scarborough in October for the Scarborough 10k race we would like to book the flight before the end of the month and have that much out of the way. Therefore all deposits of €100 per head to be paid by 31st May.
A meeting will talk place on Thursday Night in Moloney’s Bar, Poulmucka at 9pm. All stewards and committee please attend.
CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to Leanne Curry of Rafane, Cahir, daughter of Carmel and Kevin Curry on passing out with the Gardai at Templemore last week. Best wishes from your family and friends.
