CAHIR NOTES 9TH JUNE 10
CAHIR GO LÉIR FESTIVAL NEWS
Hi Folks, Welcome to the first of the Cahir go Léir Festival updates. As you probably already know the festival takes place on the 9th, 10th and 11th of July. Every week from now until the festival takes place (which is only just over 5 weeks away!) I will post all news and updates on the upcoming event in this section. If you need information, this is where you will find it. But, you can also contact me at the usual number or email and I will answer any queries. So fire away!
Firstly, by now all businesses in Cahir will have received letters asking for donations or sponsorship, which are crucial to not only resurrect our annual festival, but also to keep it going year after year. So, if you want to donate or sponsor, you can do so by posting them to Cahir go Léir Festival, C/o The Business and Training Centre, Market Yard, Cahir. If you don’t wish to post them in then I will see you soon, as I will be doing the rounds to collect them. Please also watch out for the Cahir go Léir Festival tins which have been placed in all businesses and pubs. Support your local festival by throwing in your loose change now and again and thank you.
Lots of things are being planned to entertain you but there are also many competitions. Competitions; Entry forms for Cahir House Hotel Queens Competition, the Parade and the Crazy Boat Race are available now from The Business and Training Centre. Please fill out the forms and leave at reception. If you would like to sell any arts/crafts/books etc, you can do so at the Funday Sunday in the Inch Field on Sunday 11th July. The fee is €20 per table, once again please leave details at reception in Business and Training Centre.
A competition is also taking place in both Cahir Primary Schools for children to design the cover of the Festival Schedule of Events. The winner will receive a Summer Camp of their choice in Duneske Leisure Centre. Also, all entries will be exhibited in Cahir Library over the Festival weekend, so we can all see them. Good luck boys and girls.
Details on prizes and more next week....

His work involves two techniques, the etching process and oil painting, both are based on landscape. What interests him is the play of light that can be achieved through both mediums. He has always had a fascination with landscapes since his early days in college and now he hopes to take this to a new abstract level. The ever changing countryside of Ireland inspires him. He likes to try to capture the mood and the colour of open natural spaces while trying to create a sense of peace and calmness in his work. Check it out.

CAHIR CAMOGIE CLUB NOTES
On Wednesday May 19th last our U12 team made their way to the Ragg to contest the County A championship final against Toomevara. Now the girls knew that they would have a formidable force to reckon with as they had been the victims of Toome in an earlier encounter. So, when their manager Carol Keating asked them to go out on to the field and just do their best, she
had no way of knowing how good their best would be! Each girl gave 110% so much so that they were in the lead coming up to the final whistle when faith struck them an unmerciful blow and the game ended level. Ashling Moloney and Aoife Corcoran were tremendous on the field while corner back Emma O'Donnell played the game of her life with excellent block downs and clearances. So this mighty fighting team live to fight another day and we look forward to another epic encounter with Toome.
If any club member has been collecting the Kellogg's Field of Dreams tokens would they please bring them to the next training session and give them to their managers, thank you.
We had a very enjoyable day on Sunday last when we played host to Dublin's St. Jude’s camogie club. They were visiting Cahir for the weekend and played our girls in an U11 and in an U13 friendly. We were blessed with glorious weather with beautiful sunshine bedecking the GAA field St. Jude’s were treated to two great games of camogie with Cahir's U11 team winning the first game and Jude’s U13 team taking the second game. After refreshments in the club house, all the girls took part in a long puck, racing and penalty competition. Many thanks to all who helped out in any way to make Sunday such an enjoyable day.
