CAHIR NOTES Wednesday 6th June
FELTING WORKSHOP
Emma is giving a Felting Workshop at her home on 23rd and 24th June. She lives in Rooska and can be contacted on 052 42875.
Emma has asked me to thank all those who supported her recent Exhibition – especially those who bought pieces! She has made a donation to Bothar for trees on their behalf. What a great idea.
CAHIR LADIES’ CLUB
The next meeting of the Club is next Monday, 11th June at the usual time of 9pm. Those who did Art are asked to take along their work to show all the ladies, please.
Members are going out for a Chinese meal to the Weng Garden on the Clonmel Road on Friday 22nd June. The tables have been booked for 8 o’clock. (I had a meal there on Monday night and thoroughly enjoyed it – they keep up their standard of cooking very well).
HEALTHY EATING
Helen O’Grady of Fruits & Roots, on the Tipperary Road, could not give her planned talk on healthy and enjoyable eating to the boys of the National School last week, as she was in hospital. However, fruit was still delivered to the school and distributed to the lads, which was very nice indeed. By the way, Fruits & Roots has lovely new potatoes in store.
I would like to join with Brendan Horan, the Head Teacher, and all the staff and pupils in sending our best wishes to Helen, hoping she will soon be fit and well again. (And my apologies to Brendan for giving him a sex change a couple of weeks ago, when his named appeared as “Brenda”).
WHAT’S ON AT DUNESKE
Tag League has been put off for another week, as there is a huge demand for more teams to be allowed to get involved. A fantastic time is promised with the social activities that will finish off each session, every week. The prizes are brilliant and it’s something that everyone can enjoy. This is your very last chance to join.
The Teddy Bears’ Picnic times have been changed, now running from 12 – 1pm in Duneske for ages 3-6 years. It is quite the social scene for the active child, with stories, arts & crafts, games and a rather nice tea party to finish off. €4 per child and don’t forget Teddy.
The Festival Weekend, 7th and 8th July, should go into your diary now. It promises something for everyone.
Summer Camp dates are also available now from Duneske. Contact Amanda or Mark for more details.

FUNDAY SUNDAY IN THE INCH
There will be a community Fun Day on Sunday 29th July in the Castle Inch. As usual, there will be a Fun Dog Show and if there are any community groups that would like to raise funds either for themselves or for a charity, they would be very welcome to take part. Please give me a ring and I will coordinate efforts, so that no two groups end up doing the same thing.
Of course, I hope there will be ponies and or/a horse-drawn carriage to provide rides. Can anyone offer a donkey or two for rides as well?
Last year was such fun for so many people, some of them helping out for the first time, that I very much hope this year will be even bigger and better. And entrance into the Inch will be free, once more.
TERRIER FOUND
Someone found a lost terrier (female) in the Car Park yesterday. She is obviously a pet and used to all the comforts of home, so if you think she is yours, please ring o87 210 9871.

CAHIR YOUTH CLUB

The Youth Club is now finished until September, and everyone is wished a safe and enjoyable summer holiday.
THE BELL RE-OPENS
Last Friday The Bell re-opened its doors after a total renovation. What a pity that I was still suffering from the dread virus, as drinks for the first two nights were at 1993 prices, to celebrate the original opening of the pub in that year!
Mattie McGrath TD did the honours on Friday, and I gather from friends that the place was mobbed on both nights.
Bed and Breakfast is now available on the premises, on the top two floors, known as The Loft – www.bell-loft.ie
The new Chef, Vanessa McGrath, started cooking evening meals on Tuesday from 5 to 8:30pm and Sunday Lunches will begin this coming Sunday. Must pop in one evening – I have missed the pub grub.
CAHIR MACRA
The AGM of Cahir Macra was held on 14th May. After two years of service the sitting Chair and Secretary stood down and new officers were elected. Members send the best of luck to Ger (Chair) and Thomas (Secretary) and huge thanks to John and Leah for their efforts and work over the past two years.
A summer programme for the Club will be issued shortly. All members are asked for their ideas regarding a funky raft for the Raft Race being held in June.
Everyone is welcome, and if you’re up for a bit of fun and plenty of laughs, contact Leah on 087 798 1213.

CAHIR LADIES GEALIC FOOTBALL CLUB
U/14's
The U/14's had a hard earned victory over Emly on a scoreline of 4-7 to 3-3. Emly put it up to the Cahir girls but in the last 10 mins Cahir secured victory. They now play Mullinahone on this Thursday night in Mullinahone.
U/12's Community Games
THe U/12 girls played Ballyporeen in the Final at Semple Stadium. This was Cahir's fourth year in a row to reach the Final and the girls were really determined to pull it off. The girls started well and popped over a couple of points which settled them down. things then really started to flow for the Cahir girls but the scoreline does not show the true reflection of hte Ballyporeen team. we wish them hte best of luck in the rest of the Munsters.
Team: Aoife Corcoran (2-0), Caoimhe Hickey, Emma Corcoran, Aoife O'Brien, Carol Casey, Emma Buckley, Lorna McEniry (2-1), Aishling Armitage, Aishling McCarthy (1-3), Keely Halpin, Kirsty Downey (1-3), Roisin Costigan, Eadaoin O'Gorman, Roisin Howard (0-4), Emer Harris, Aishling Moloney, Aoibheann Moloney.
CAHIR CAMOGIE CLUB
Our U12 girls were very busy people in the week just past what with two championship games, one against Moyle Rovers in Duneske on Tuesday May 29th and then in Carrick On Suir against Carrig Swan on the following Thursday evening. With two comprehensive wins under their belt from both these matches it will hopefully give these young girls plenty of confidence in themselves in their forthcoming games. The overall standard of their game has really improved and the less experienced players are making valuable contributions to the game. Each player gave all that was asked of them and indeed the future of our club looks very bright indeed. Our Lady of Mercy Primary school's U13 team also had a convincing win over NewInn on Wednesday evening last. The U 10 team made their way to NewInn to partake in the Festival Blitz on Sunday last and while the weather to start off with may not have been the most desirable, the sun eventually broke through the clouds while Cahir and Thurles were playing the final. Again we saw great commitment from this very young team and while the result of the game itself was a draw, Thurles emerged victorious with the winners being decided upon by goal deferential. The girls were not a bit disappointed and all really enjoyed themselves and gained valuable experience from the games they played during the day. We take this opportunity to thank NewInn for their kind invitation and hospitality to us.Our very best wishes go to our young player Ashling Moloney who is not feeling to well at the minute, we all hope to see her back in action soon. The U12 team will be out iagain on Tuesday evening when they take on Brian Borus in Clogheen. So no rest for all the parents who are so good to come along with the team, we all really appreciate the effort and the time that you put in.
