CAHIR & DISTRICT LADIES’ CLUB
The ladies had a night out at Duneske on Monday 19th November, where they had coffee and biscuits and then a very interesting talk from Amanda, as they look at the facilities available there.
It was great to have a good number of members there, and everyone enjoyed it so much that the ladies have decided to do a 6-week course at Duneske, using the gym and doing Salsa Aerobics. They can’t wait to start, and want to thank Amanda very much for providing such an enjoyable night. The ladies are starting on Monday 3rd December at 8 o’clock. Ladies, make sure that you have all had your assessments, so that you can use the gym on the night.
SLEEPY HOLLOW?
I received the following e-mail from Anne Loughlin last week: “…Have been looking at the web site for Cahir and local news had nothing to report since 2005! I know its sleepy hollow, but not that sleepy, surely!?”
Anne is quite right, of course. The Community Website has been down for some time, and after wrestling with the providers over a matter of months, it has been decided to set up another one. This will contain the “back numbers” and, hopefully, will be more satisfactory. In the meantime, unless people outside the County contact someone here, they will be left in the dark as to what is going on.
CAHIR MACRA HITS THE TOWN
Last Saturday night, Cahir Macra held a Club Exchange with Dundrum Macra. The two Clubs hit Clonmel in style. Much dancing was done by all members and a great night was had by all, even though there were many pairs of sore feet the morning after.
The Club is going Bowling this Thursday night in Clonmel at 8:30pm, Saturday coming the Club is hitting Limerick for the semi finals of the Public Speaking.
Christmas is coming and the Club is going for a Chinese in Cashel on 14th December for their Christmas meal. Looking forward into the New Year, members will be heading to Waterford for a weekend away. If you are interested in joining Cahir Macra, give them a call or text on 087 798 1213.

The members of this Club wish to send Greetings for a speedy recovery to Bernie Moore, who is recuperating down in St Theresa’s Hospital, Clogheen, after a recent operation in Cork. Hurry on back to them, Bernie. They all miss your smiles and good humour at the Bridge table.
The Christmas competitions are in full swing. The results will be announced at their Annual Tuesday Night Christmas Dinner in Cahir House Hotel on 4th December.
ROSEMOUNT & AREA RESIDENTS’ ASSOCIATION
The Association held its Annual General Meeting on Thursday 15th November in the Castle Court Hotel. The meeting was well supported and a new Committee has been formed. Muriel McGuire is Chairperson, with Rita Condon and Geraldine Keirns as Acting Secretaries and Mary Nagle as Treasurers.
The Committee has two major projects in the pipe-line, details of which will be given at a later date. They wish to thank Michael Kelly, outgoing Chairperson, for his huge input during the year. A big Thank You, too, to Pat English (local Garda) for his support in the area, and also to all the hard-working Committee members.
The Association will be present in Cahir House Hotel on Sunday 2nd December from 3pm to 6pm for the “Information and Fun Family Afternoon” for non-Irish nationals living in the Cahir area. If you are living in the Rosemount area, they would love to meet you.
NEW SHOPS, NEW FACADES …
Cahir, and particularly the area around The Square, is being transformed by new businesses and the development of existing ones. The ‘new’ chemist on the West side is going to be spectacular, and the unification of the facades will greatly improve the overall look of that side of The Square. Dermot will be holding an Opening ceremony when all the work is finished and it will be interesting to see the final results. In the meantime, congratulations to all the staff on retaining your sanity! (?)
